Double glazing in Western Sydney

Built for the western heat

Blacktown is a 39 minute drive from our Smeaton Grange workshop, Penrith 42 and Parramatta 44, off peak. We measure, make and install double glazed windows right across Western Sydney with our own team.

Western Sydney gets some of the hottest days in the city, and a lot of that heat comes in through glass. Double glazing with a Low E coating is the most effective glass upgrade for west facing living rooms, big sliding doors and upstairs bedrooms that stay hot into the night.

Double glazing also helps with noise from the M4, the M7, the Great Western Highway and, in future, the Western Sydney Airport. For new builds in Marsden Park, Box Hill and Jordan Springs, we quote from your plans and BASIX window schedule.

Glass explained

Choosing glass for Western Sydney homes

Here is how each glass option helps, so you can compare before your free measure.

Glass typeWhat it doesBest for
Toughened safety glassHeat treated to around four to five times the strength of standard glass. If it breaks, it crumbles into small blunt pieces.Doors, low windows and bathrooms where AS 1288 calls for safety glass.
Laminated glassTwo panes bonded with a clear interlayer that holds the glass together if it breaks and blocks most UV.Security, street facing rooms and less fading of floors and furniture.
Acoustic laminated glassLaminated glass with a sound dampening interlayer.Bedrooms near main roads, rail lines and flight paths.
Low E glassA very thin coating that reflects heat, keeping summer heat out and winter warmth in.West facing rooms and large sliding doors.
Double glazingTwo panes with a sealed gap between them. Cuts heat transfer, outside noise and condensation.Year round comfort, quieter rooms and cold winters.
Bushfire rated glazingGlass and frames specified to your Bushfire Attack Level under AS 3959.Homes on bushfire prone land.

Residential windows in Australia are rated to AS 2047 for wind, water and air. Energy performance is shown as a U value (heat loss) and SHGC (solar heat gain), and many products carry a WERS rating. We explain the numbers at your measure.

Common questions

Double glazing questions from Western Sydney

Do you install double glazed windows in Western Sydney?
Yes. Our own team measures and installs across Western Sydney. Drive times from our Smeaton Grange workshop are 39 minutes to Blacktown, 42 to Penrith, 44 to Parramatta, off peak.
Can you double glaze my existing windows?
In most cases we replace the whole window with a new double glazed aluminium frame made to fit the existing opening. Old frames are usually too thin to take a double glazed unit.
What is the difference between Low E and double glazing?
Low E is a thin coating on the glass that reflects heat. Double glazing is two panes with a sealed gap. You can combine both for the best result in hot or cold rooms.
Does double glazing stop condensation?
It greatly reduces it. The inner pane stays closer to room temperature, so far less moisture forms on the glass.
Is Low E glass enough, or do I need double glazing?
Low E single glazing cuts heat gain at a lower cost. Double glazing with Low E does more for heat, cold and noise. We show you both at the measure.
Will double glazing help my air conditioning?
Yes. Less heat through the glass means the air conditioner has less work to do on hot days.
Is double glazing worth the cost?
For rooms that get hot, cold or noisy, usually yes. We show you single, Low E and double glazed options at the measure so you can compare.
How long does an order take?
Most orders are made and installed within 3 to 5 weeks of sign off. Your written quote confirms the timeline.
