Updated September 2026 | Local advice from our Smeaton Grange install team

Newage Glass and Aluminium supplies and installs aluminium windows and doors across Sutherland and St George, including Sutherland, Kirrawee, Gymea and Miranda. Every frame is made to measure at our Smeaton Grange workshop and fitted by our own team. Popular choices here are classic sliding door, classic stacking door and double glazed door. Measures and written quotes are free, and we reply to quote requests within 24 hours.
The Sutherland Shire and St George are an easy drive from our Smeaton Grange workshop via Heathcote Road and the M5. We measure, make and install in Sutherland, Miranda, Caringbah, Cronulla, Menai and Engadine, and across St George in Hurstville, Kogarah, Rockdale, Bexley and Oatley.
Many homes here are brick houses from the 1960s to 1980s with original aluminium or timber frames that now leak, rattle or stick. We replace them with better sealed modern windows and doors made to suit the existing openings. Knockdown rebuilds and renovations also bring requests for wide stacking doors that open onto pools and decks.
Location shapes the glass. Cronulla, Kurnell and the Georges River and Port Hacking waterfronts get salt air, so coastal grade finishes are worth it. Engadine, Heathcote, Loftus and Bangor sit beside national park bushland and often need BAL rated options. Rockdale, Brighton-Le-Sands and Kogarah are under Sydney Airport flight paths, where acoustic glass makes a real difference. In Sutherland and St George, the main things to plan for are salt air, national park bushfire edge, airport noise. Here is how each glass option helps, so you can compare before your free measure.
| Glass type | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Toughened safety glass | Heat treated to around four to five times the strength of standard glass. If it breaks, it crumbles into small blunt pieces. | Doors, low windows and bathrooms where AS 1288 calls for safety glass. |
| Laminated glass | Two panes bonded with a clear interlayer that holds the glass together if it breaks and blocks most UV. | Security, street facing rooms and less fading of floors and furniture. |
| Acoustic laminated glass | Laminated glass with a sound dampening interlayer. | Bedrooms near main roads, rail lines and flight paths. |
| Low E glass | A very thin coating that reflects heat, keeping summer heat out and winter warmth in. | West facing rooms and large sliding doors. |
| Double glazing | Two panes with a sealed gap between them. Cuts heat transfer, outside noise and condensation. | Year round comfort, quieter rooms and cold winters. |
| Bushfire rated glazing | Glass and frames specified to your Bushfire Attack Level under AS 3959. | Homes on bushfire prone land. |
Residential windows in Australia are rated to AS 2047 for wind, water and air. Energy performance is shown as a U value (heat loss) and SHGC (solar heat gain), and many products carry a WERS rating. We explain the numbers at your measure.
Send a few photos and rough sizes. We will point you in the right direction before the measure.
